Goals are SMART!

Hi friends! Guess what? I learned how to make goals today! Do you know what a goal is? A goal is something you decide you want to do. It could be something you want to learn, something you want to build, something you want to earn, or something you want to improve.

When mom asked me what goal I wanted to make, I told her I wanted to build a roller coaster in our pond. It sounded like a great idea to me, but Mom said I should think smaller, because it is important to make goals that I can achieve. I didn’t know what that meant. She said I should first have the skills that I need to reach the goal. She said if I study hard once I go to school, I can try building a roller coaster when I grow up. Because I haven’t started school yet, that goal was too big.

I learned that goals need to be something I really want to do. This will help me because I will care about working on the goal. That got me really excited. I knew what I wanted to do!

I decided I really wanted to be brave. I don’t like feeling scared, but I love it when I try something new and find something I like! Mom said this was a good start, but that I needed to be specific. She asked me what brave means to me.

I decided bravery means trying new things. Together, we came up with my final goal! I will try a new thing every week for 4 whole weeks! Do you think I can do it? I am going to do my best.

Have you tried anything new this week?
